Bruce Hessler is an expert instructor for Safety Research Consultants, Inc., (SRC) who started his career in law enforcement in 1977. He worked in the patrol, traffic and investigations divisions at the Detroit Police Department in Michigan, and the Orange Police Department and Irvine Police Department in Southern California.

“The primary experience has always been the ability to ‘serve and protect,’” Hessler said. “Safety training is the key to prevention. My goal is to stimulate and motivate my SRC classes to realize the importance of safety, and for it to become an instinctive response for them.”

He tells his own family: “The Smith System (aim high in steering, get the big picture, keep your eyes moving, leave yourself an out, and make sure they see you) works no matter if you are driving a car, motorcycle, or even as a pedestrian.”

Hessler holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
